Caring for you
is our priority
A new General Practice for the Takapau community
The Takapau Community Health Charitable Trust is excited to announce that from Monday 5th October 2026 we will be changing our business from a Nurse Led clinic to a GP enrolling practice which means we can become your GP provider.
You will be enrolled under Takapau Health Centre, not a specific provider. The GP clinics we currently hold for Dr Mohan Gaddipati and Dr Jane Nash will stop.
From Monday 31st August we will be starting our Zone 1 pre-enrolments which can be completed by clicking on the link on our website or coming into the centre if you need assistance. Please be aware of the ID requirements to enrol. Our website
www.takhealth.co.nz will go live on the same day.
Our first 1000 patient pre-enrolment priority group is for people in the Takapau township (please see map on website) and any persons in CHB that are not currently enrolled with a GP in Hawkes Bay.
Our Zone 2 enrolments will include the wider CHB community and will be advised at a later date. Please keep an eye on our new website and Facebook page for updates.
Casual patients can be assessed by a nurse for urgent matters.
Our enrolling providers who are joining our team are:
Dr Erica Lauder, Dr Jane Nash, Dr Charlotte Deroles
and Leanne Hutt (Nurse Practitioner).
Check the map to see if you are within our enrolment area.

“To provide a sustainable, professional primary health service that is affordable and accessible;
To enhance the Hauora and wellbeing of the people of Takapau and the surrounding rural Community."

About us
Our commitment to
health care
Founding and Early Years
The Takapau Health Centre opened its doors in 1989 with a part time nurse after the local rural community led by Anne Lloyd and Lyla Koppen rallied together to purchase the former post office building that currently houses the clinic.
Growth and Development
Over the years the centre has evolved and grown with the needs of our rural community.
Takapau Community Health Charitable Trust has supported the training and development of two Nurse Practitioners, a Registered Nurse Prescriber and Community Nurse Prescribers. The Trust is committed to encouraging nurses to work at the top of their scope to provide the best health care possible.
As a result of the ever changing needs of our rural community of Takapau and the wider Central Hawkes Bay, the Health Centre is now going to become an enrolling GP Practice.
Community Involvement
The Takapau Health Centre is governed by a volunteer group of Trustees from our community.
These Trustees are Jason Ward, Judith Lyons, Rachel Purdie Irons, Judith Finlay, Margaret Rose Nepe -Apatu Thorstensen and Jo Heperi.
The Takapau Op Shop has been active in our community for many years, and provides regular income to the health centre so that equipment can be purchased to ensure our clinics run smoothly.
The Op Shop is run by a group of dedicated volunteers doing amazing mahi for our community.
The health centre has been supported over the years by many local funding agencies. These kind donations reflect strong community driven support that has enabled our services to expand and meet the needs of our community over the last 36 plus years.
